he Illinois Bicentennial Coordinating Committee of Springfield seeks to coordinate with a diverse and inclusive group of community partners to celebrate the Bicentennial in 2018 with activities that focus on our area’s complex history and provide a vision of Springfield 100 years from now.

The Springfield Bicentennial Committee announces the Native to Central Illinois Student Essay Contests. Open to all residents of the Sangamon County, the essays will be age appropriate and focus on creating an interest in the sciences. The contest will begin on April 1, 2018 and ends on April 23, 2018. All entries must be mailed to the Springfield Bicentennial Coordinating Committee and be postmarked by April 23, 2018.
